MSc thesis project proposal

Designing a Transparent Gel-Based Hand Pressure Sensor Mat supported

This assignment aims to design a transparent gel-based pressure sensor mat integrated with an IP-camera, Single Board Computer (SBC), Computer Vision, and AI algorithms for remote hand pressure detection. The objective is to create a system that can accurately detect varying levels of hand pressure remotely (from a short distance).

The assignment tasks include conducting a literature review on pressure sensors, transparent gel-based mats, and Computer Vision combined with AI techniques. The student will design a transparent pressure sensor mat, considering dimensions, material selection, sensing characteristics, and signal processing. Integration of the pressure sensor mat with the SBC will be performed, ensuring proper data acquisition along with image and signal processing

Assignment

The designed system should be calibrated and tested to ensure the desired accuracy. Known pressures will be applied at different locations on the mat, and the system creates a hit map of applied pressure. A validation process will be conducted to test the system's ability to detect hand pressure accurately from a short distance, comparing its performance against predefined metrics (applied pressure).
