Nishant Shankar Lawand

Nishant Shankar Lawand born in Satara, India, studied Diploma (D.M.E) and Bachelors (B.E) in the area of Mechanical engineering at the University of Pune, India. After a relevant work experience in this field he completed his Masters (M.Sc) education in Mechatronics from the University of Applied Sciences, Aachen, Germany. Concluded his M.Sc course by performing his master thesis project in the Transducers Science and Technology Group (TST) at the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands. At present he is engaged with the Smac-it project which is aimed at improving functionality and adaptability of the cochlear implant. The new implants will be made in silicon and contain integrated sensors, actuators and electronics. This project is in close co-operation with the ENT laboratory of the medical center in Leiden (LUMC) and the Electronic Instrumentation Laboratory (EIL) of TU Delft.
